Coverage

What Insurance Covers You
When You Drive on HUM.

Every trip completed in the HUM app is covered under HUM's commercial TNC policy — the same legal framework as Uber and Lyft. No separate commercial insurance policy required to drive on the platform.

HUM's TNC Policy

Log the Ride. It's Covered.

HUM is a registered Transportation Network Company. When you start a trip in the HUM app — inputting your passenger's information and beginning the ride — HUM's commercial TNC policy activates. Coverage is in effect from the moment you're en route to your passenger through drop-off.

Input
Enter your passenger's information in the HUM app.

Every private ride starts in the app. That's what creates the record, activates the coverage, and makes the trip legitimate.

Begin the trip. Coverage activates.

HUM's TNC policy is in effect from the moment you're en route to your passenger through the end of the ride.

Drop off. The trip is logged and covered.

Your passenger can pay however you've agreed — cash, card, Venmo. The coverage doesn't depend on how payment is collected. It depends on the trip being in the app.

No Separate Policy Required
No separate commercial insurance policy required to drive on the HUM platform.

HUM's TNC registration covers you while you're active on the platform. For full coverage details, limits by state, and a copy of the Certificate of Insurance, visit humprivaterides.com/ride-assurance.

Your Personal Auto Policy

What You're Required to Maintain.

Driving on HUM involves two layers of coverage — HUM's TNC policy, and your own personal auto insurance. Here's how they work together.

Your Personal Auto Policy — Off Platform
Period 0 — Off Platform

All drivers on HUM are required to maintain a valid personal auto insurance policy meeting the minimum requirements established by the state in which they operate.

Your personal policy applies any time you're operating your vehicle outside the HUM platform — personal use, errands, commuting, or any time you have not started a trip in the HUM app. It is your primary coverage during that time.

Questions about your specific personal policy and how it interacts with platform driving should be directed to your personal insurer. HUM cannot advise on your personal coverage.

Physical Damage — What to Know

HUM's policy includes contingent physical damage coverage during active trips. To qualify, drivers must maintain their own comprehensive and collision coverage on the vehicle at all other times.

If you carry a personal policy with comprehensive and collision, HUM's contingent coverage steps in during your HUM trips. Full details are in the Certificate of Insurance at humprivaterides.com/ride-assurance.

Common Questions

Insurance Questions Drivers Actually Ask.

No separate commercial insurance policy is required to drive on the HUM platform. HUM's TNC registration covers you while you're active on the platform. For full details on what that coverage includes, see the Ride Assurance page or download the Certificate of Insurance.
We can't advise on your personal policy — that's a question for your insurer. What we can tell you is that HUM's TNC coverage is in effect during your trips on the platform, and your personal policy applies when you're off it. How your personal carrier views platform driving is something to confirm directly with them.
HUM operates under the same TNC regulatory framework as Uber and Lyft. The structure is legally identical — a registered TNC with a commercial auto policy covering drivers during active trips. Specific limits and terms differ from platform to platform and by state. HUM's full limits are in the Certificate of Insurance at humprivaterides.com/ride-assurance.
HUM's policy includes contingent physical damage coverage during active trips. "Contingent" means it applies if you maintain your own comprehensive and collision coverage on your vehicle at all other times. If you have a personal policy with comp and collision, HUM's coverage steps in during your HUM trips. Full details and limits are in the COI.
Full coverage details — including limits by state, all three coverage periods, physical damage terms, and the Certificate of Insurance — are at humprivaterides.com/ride-assurance. You can download the COI directly from that page.
