Ride Assurance

Every Private Ride.
Fully Covered.

HUM is a registered Transportation Network Company. Every trip completed in the HUM app is covered under HUM's TNC registration — the same legal framework as Uber and Lyft. No separate commercial rideshare endorsement required to drive on the platform.

Currently active in California, Arizona & Idaho
How Coverage Works

Log the Ride. It's Covered.

Coverage flows automatically through HUM's TNC license. There's nothing extra to buy, activate, or file. If the ride is in the app, it's covered.

No Commercial Endorsement
No separate commercial insurance policy required to drive on the HUM platform.

HUM's TNC registration covers you while you're active on the platform. Your personal auto insurance continues to apply when you're off it.

All Three Periods
Coverage starts when you log in — not just when the passenger is in your car.

The TNC insurance standard defines three coverage periods. HUM's policy covers all three, with limits that scale as the ride progresses.

Same Framework
Legally identical to how Uber and Lyft handle coverage for their drivers.

TNC registration is the legally recognized structure for rideshare coverage in all active HUM states. This isn't a workaround — it's the standard.

Coverage Periods

Three Periods. Covered the Whole Way Through.

TNC insurance operates on three defined periods. Your coverage level adjusts at each stage — lowest when you're waiting, highest when you have a passenger on board.

Period 1 — App On
Logged in, waiting for a ride request.

You're available in the HUM app but haven't accepted a trip yet.

Liability Coverage Bodily Injury Property Damage
Period 2 — En Route to Pickup
Trip accepted. On the way to pick up your rider.

You've accepted a request and are driving to the passenger's location.

Liability Coverage Bodily Injury Property Damage Contingent Physical Damage UM / UIM
Period 3 — Passenger on Board
Rider is in your vehicle. Highest coverage level.

The passenger has been picked up and you're traveling to the drop-off location.

Liability Coverage Bodily Injury Property Damage Contingent Physical Damage UM / UIM

About physical damage coverage: HUM's contingent physical damage coverage applies during Periods 2 and 3 only. To qualify, drivers must maintain their own comprehensive and collision coverage on the vehicle during all other times. If you have a qualifying personal policy, HUM's coverage steps in when you have a passenger or are en route to pick one up.

Coverage disclaimer: The information on this page is provided for general informational purposes only and describes coverage available to drivers while active on the HUM platform. HUM's TNC registration provides coverage during Periods 1, 2, and 3 as defined by the applicable TNC insurance standard. This coverage applies while a driver is logged into the HUM app — it does not replace a driver's personal auto insurance, which continues to apply when the driver is off the platform. Contingent physical damage coverage during Periods 2 and 3 requires that drivers maintain their own comprehensive and collision coverage at all other times. Coverage details are subject to the full terms, conditions, and exclusions of HUM's active commercial auto insurance policy. Download the Certificate of Insurance above for complete policy details.
